Modelling the handmade Deborah Lenorah Wedding Collection
Deborah Lenorah is a South London based fashion designer and business owner specialising in handmade special occasion dresses and boutique accessories. Not only is she a talented artist, she’s also a beautiful woman inside and out. I was honored to model her wedding collection, a new look for me trying on a wedding dress for the first time, which made me feel a million dollars! “My fashion design journey all started at school embroidering pillowcases. And I always loved fashion - I used to make my own clothes to go to work. From wrap dresses to handbags, and from there it grew”.
“I did a couple of classes at courses at college where I met a friend where we used to really enjoy the process but we weren’t quite satisfied with the course. It didn’t get our creative juices flowing, so I took stuff home and started doing it myself”.
“I always had a thing about ball gowns. I loved dressing up and so did my mum. She went to dinner and dances, so it stemmed from that. She always had the lovely glittery sparkly long dresses. Dresses that not a lot of people would wear now - but in those days they did”.
“My mum would always say to me, if you get a dress you’ve got to have the shoes and the bag. So I’d make dresses with matching accessories to go with - I got the fever from her”.
“I’ve had many highlights. I worked at spitalfields market for 2 and a half years. I had a stall where I made fascinators. Whenever I get a chance I will wear a fascinator, that is me! From there I taught myself how to make the bouquets, bows and boutonniere - It’s all cohesive and all goes together. And as you know I also crochet. When I'm not doing bouquets or sewing, I'm getting out the crochet!”
“We all get that creative block sometimes, which stops and starts, but this passion has always been there. It's in my blood and I always end up going back to it. It's lovely to create something and watch it come alive. When it all comes to plan and looks how you imagine it to be or even better”.
“You want someone to feel a million dollars. So they feel the best version of themselves they can be. If you’ve done that, you’ve done a good job. There’s nothing like it!”
